MR. NEELMANI SINGH, General Manager, Prism Johnson

SESSION: 50

On 12th July 2020, we conducted our 50th career counseling session. This was our 9th Phase. This phase was started with career guidance in MINING ENGINEERING. We had MR. NEELMANI SINGH for this, who is a GENERAL MANAGER at PRISM JOHNSON Ltd. He is B. Tech in Mining Engineering from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad in 1998, and PGCBM from XLRI Jamshedpur. He has professional experience of almost 22 years in India and abroad. He shared his work experience with all the viewers. He has worked with Global Steel Holdings Ltd., JSW, and JSPL. He says, that there is a vast scope in this field. A person can join as a mining engineer technician, mine planner, general manager mines, research engineer, and so on. He also suggested that after 10th a student can start the preparation of the JEE exam and after clearing the JEE exams a student gets the college of IT where he can pursue this course. This is a 4 years course and a diploma is for 3 years. Candidates should have cleared their 12th from a recognized board with a Science stream. He took all the questions which were asked by the students. Our speaker also suggested some of the industries in this field who are among the top recruiters also. The industries include Hindustan Zinc Ltd, National Mineral Development Corporation India, National Aluminium Company Ltd, Hindalco, McKinsey&Company, and a few more. This field will give the person the chance to learn new technicalities. He says, this work of mining will keep a person engaged and involved, which is the best way to grow within the industry and will make your profile stronger than before. He says, if you love traveling then you’ll love this job as it requires a lot of traveling. His life experiences as a mining engineer in this field made the session wonderful. Our expert shared a SUCCESS MANTRA which everyone should possess, ‘Self-confidence is very important for a person to achieve the goal’.

MS. BHAWANA SACHAN, Dietician/Nutritionist

SESSION: 51

CAREER AS A NUTRITIONIST was the topic of career guidance on 14th July 2020. The expert who guided in this field is a DIETICIAN/NUTRITIONIST. She has 11 years of experience in this field. MS. BHAWANA SACHAN shared the live platform with us on Facebook and Instagram. She is running 4 clinics in Delhi and NCR. She has completed her B.Sc. from PPN College, Kanpur in 1998, and did M.Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition from IGNOU in 2010. She is a member of the Indian Dietician Association. Without good food, one can’t have the change that they want in their body. Our expert gave important insights into how a nutritious diet is important for physical, and mental health. Many nutritionists are self-employed with a private practice, but others contribute to a larger team in hospitals, nursing homes, or clinics. Nutritionists advise patients, develop diet plans according to a patient’s health concerns, evaluate the cost, and promote better nutrition. Students from Science background are preferred in this field. Students should keep themselves updated on the new nutritious food and other food items that are coming. The courses are offered at Diploma, UG, and PG level. A person can become a Registered Dietician after clearing the RD exam which is conducted by the IDA. She discussed the different institutes which offer this course like the National Institute of Nutrition in Hyderabad, Institute of Home Economics of Delhi University, University of Madras, University of Mysore, and so on. She took each question of the students which made the session very interactive. She shared tips that a person can include in his/her daily life. SUCCESS MANTRA for the aspirants of this field that she gave was, ‘Always try those ideas and methods which you are supposed to give to your clients. This will help you to set an example for your clients. And handle your patients calmly.’

DR. DEVENDRA SINGH DAHIYA, Professor of Horticulture

SESSION: 52

This session focused on how a person can start his/her journey in the field of AGRICULTURE and HORTICULTURE SCIENCES. The session went live on Facebook and Instagram on 16th July 2020. DR. DEVENDRA SINGH DAHIYA, who is a DIRECTOR at STUDENT’S WELFARE and was a PROFESSOR of Horticulture and mentored the students and gave important insights about this profession. He shared his education and career journey. He has done B.Sc. Hons Agriculture, MSc, and Ph.D. in Horticulture from HAU, Hisar. He has more than 3 decades of Teaching and Research experience. The session covered most of the important topics which a student needs to know about. He says, in India, agriculture is the very vast field, with a wide range of potential career paths. Horticulture is regarded as the mainstream of agriculture that deals with the cultivation of plants, vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, maintaining nurseries, plantations, and many more. Our speaker says that this field offers a variety of career opportunities in the areas of retail management, crop inspection, research, teaching, and so on. Entrance exams were also discussed by our mentor which a student should clear to get into this field. ICAR is the entrance exam conducted all over India. At UG level a student can do BSc, BA, BTech, Diploma, Certificate, and for PG a student can go for MSc, MBA, MTech, Ph.D. He also discussed why farmers do suicide despite this being a vast field. He gave us so many good points which most of us were not aware of. Most people consider agriculture, horticulture, and gardening as same but he also cleared the difference between them. The challenges which he faced at the time of his career journey were also shared by him. SUCCESS MANTRA by our mentor is, ‘Always keep your Attitude Positive and stay away from Negativity’.

MRS. KAUSHAKI SONDHI, Executive Director, NCMB, Public Speaker, Social Innovator, Professional Educator, & Live Session Speaker

SESSION: 53

MRS. KAUSHAKI SONDHI guided the students on HOW TO LAUNCH YOURSELF INTO A SUCCESSFUL CAREER. Her session streamed live on Facebook and Instagram on 18th July 2020. She is an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR at NCMB. Our expert is also a PUBLIC SPEAKER, SOCIAL INNOVATOR, PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR, AND LIVE SESSION SPEAKER. She shared her career journey with all the viewers. She is working with the Women Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She works for Women Empowerment and all India Council Human Rights Liberties and Social Justice. Her session was motivating as well as informative. She told the students that every child is blessed with a unique skill and one needs to find it and pursue it as her career. Next, she talks about what exactly is a success, she says that success is anything that what you can achieve with your hard work and to the best of your abilities. She says that soft skills are as important as hard skills. Students should decide themselves on their career choice without the influence of parents and friends and let inner self decide. For a successful career, one should have good speaking and writing skills as it is becoming a very important factor in the corporate sector. In the next part of the session she says, that is the launching year of your career it may be possible that you will not get any appreciation for your efforts or you will feel insulted by your superiors but one should remain positive and optimistic. She also tells that if a person is introvert than one can develop the skill of teamwork and helps his colleagues by doing his work this will help him earn respect without communication but one should develop communication skills gradually to climb the ladder of success. She also guides students to have backup plans if your plan fails. She also shared her life experiences when she failed but learned something new from it. The SUCCESS MANTRA in which she believes is that ‘One should trust in oneself and be positive at all times and don’t let others let you down if you feel others are pinning you down.’

PADMA SHRI K.K.MUHAMMED, ARCHAEOLOGIST

SESSION: 54

The 54th session was about ARCHAEOLOGY, which is one of the less known but promising field. PADMA SHRI K.K MUHAMMED who is an ARCHAEOLOGIST mentored a student in this field. The session was streamed live on Facebook and Instagram on 20th July 2020. Our expert was Regional Director (NORTH) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and also served as the Project Archaeological Director in Aga Khan Trust for culture from 2013 to 2016. He was honored with India’s Civilian honor PADMA SHRI in 2019 by PRESIDENT RAMNATH KOVIND. The session started with discussing the career journey of our expert. He has received CITIZEN AWARD by Amitabh Bachchan. He also served as a guide to Barack Obama, former President of USA and the American Embassy informed him that the President would like to meet those students which went great. He says in today’s world we find very few archaeologists because not many people are aware of this course also not many colleges teach this course. People should opt for this course who have extraordinary zeal to learn about history. He says that he had a lot of interest in history, then he decided to pursue a degree in history from Aligarh Muslim University from where he traveled a lot of monuments and which gained his interest. The most interesting thing he found about this course not only provides you with a stipend but also teaches archaeology by visiting those monuments and then study about them. He says his job as an archaeologist includes research about the cultures that have been long forgotten and conservation of the monuments. He then tells us that one should choose such a university for archaeology which provides practical training along with theory learning such as Banaras Hindu University and Deccan College (Pune). Students can take the post-graduate course from ASI and for research work, the best university is the one with library and excavation like BHU, Deccan College, or Baroda University. Knowing different languages is a plus point for the person in this field. He also adds that one can also work as a tourist guide and should have contacts with 5-star hotels or can work for museums. Apart from becoming a tourist guide, one can also become a documentation officer. He shared his experience and the challenges he faced. SUCCESS MANTRA which he recommends, ‘Students should follow their passion and believe in their dreams.
