GP. CAPT. PUNEET SHARMA (RETD)

SESSION: 36

The 6th phase of career guidance began on 14th June 2020. To give this phase an energetic start we invited GP. CAPT. PUNEET SHARMA (RETD). He mentored on ‘how one can make a career in INDIAN AIRFORCE AS AN AIR WARRIOR’. He is graduate in ECE from NIT, Kurukshetra. He shared his wonderful career journey. He has held many important operational portfolios in Indian Airforce as an Aeronautical Engineer. He is an Ex-Assessor and he has been involved in Officers Cadre selection in IAF for a decade. His session helped us to learn a lot about the Air Force. He says, Air Force is not a job it’s a way of life, it’s family, it’s everything that you want in life. Arms Forces are all about your passion. In Indian Air Force there is 3 level post. The first level includes Officer post, second is below the officer rank in which one can join as an airman, and the third rank is the non-commissioned officers. If one wishes to join Indian Airforce just after the 12th, then they need to appear for the NDA exam conducted by UPSC. The eligibility criteria for NDA entry is 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics. UPSC also conducts CDSE and NCC exam for the graduate and post-graduate aspirants. After engineering, one can appear for UES, AFCAT. Our guest covered all the important points that were necessary for the interested aspirants. He talked about the different branches in this field. He discussed the Group X and Y in IAF Airmen in detail covering all the important aspects. One should have the capability to adjust with different people, and the environment to come into this field. This session was full of information that one needs to know about IAF. He told us how his father has been his role model all the time. He shared a beautiful message with the youth, ‘Have faith in yourself and accept people as they are. Be optimistic and learn from your past experiences’.

SHRI ARVIND CHATURVEDI

SESSION: 37

MR. ARVIND CHATURVEDI shared the live platform over Instagram and Facebook on 16th June 2020. He is a SENIOR JOURNALIST and has worked with many prestigious news channels. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University. From his earlier stages of life, he always wished to do something exciting and different which made him come into this field. This also resulted in a book on Sh. Narendra Modi, the first of its kind, based on narration and facts revealed by people closely related to him. At present, he is working on 4 more books. He shared his career journey and how he got his first reporting on a news channel. He has covered a lot of famous incidents that had happened earlier. Our speaker named some of the top most colleges where one can get a degree in this specific field. Some of the colleges/universities are BHU, Indian Institute of mass communication in New Delhi, Symbiosis, Amity, etc. The duration of this course differs for Bachelors and Masters, for Bachelors this is for 3 years and Masters is for 2 years. One should have that feeling within themselves that they should be knowing more than others about any news. The understanding of facts and figures is a must to take forward the news. To make your writing effective which is a must in this field is trying to read more and read something new each day. The first priority of a journalist should be truthfulness and unbiasedness in his content. A journalist is also known as ‘KALAM KA SIPAHI’. He answered every question of our viewers which made the session very interactive. He gave us many useful tips that will be helping our future journalist. He shared his valuable time with us and shared his life experiences.‘Never look back, keep moving ahead and you should always have an aim for your future’, is the SUCCESS MANTRA shared by our mentor.

CA DINESH BANSAL

SESSION: 38

We organized a career guidance session for the students planning to become a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT. Our guest speaker was DINESH BANSAL. He has 9 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant. His session took place on 18th June 2020. He shared his educational and career journey with us. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He owns a firm, M/S Bansal Bajaj & Associates, which is engaged in providing Audit and Assurance, Tax Advisory, Financial Advisory Services. Further, the session covered the scopes available after CA. So, there are 2 options, the first one is COP i.e., Certificate of Practitioner these people can start their practice. Another option is for people who want to work with some other firm. The job opportunities available are auditor, share valuer, financial reporter, tax advisor, GST expert, and more. He says the degree of CA is itself job stability. There is an entrance exam called Common Proficiency Test (CPT) one has to clear to get admission into course. This is organized by ICAI. There are 3 stages in the exam which include foundation level (entrance level), intermediate level, and then comes the final level. The duration of a CA course depends upon two things. One is through the foundation route which is after 12th, this is for 4.5 years. Another one is the graduation route, which is 3 years. He discussed all the necessary details which are required to come into this course. There is a course called ICTSS where one can learn the soft skills required for the interview of a CA. He imparted a lot of knowledge within all the viewers. It was a very good session to get the details for this profession. He gave a SUCCESS MANTRA for all the aspirants of CA, ‘Take your 3 year practical training seriously and 5–6 hours of self- study is a must. And also, never lose your hope, keep trying till you achieve your goal.’

DR. HARISH TRIPATHI

SESSION: 39

On 20th June 2020, we organized our next session. This session was organized for the ones who always loved the designs and aesthetics of buildings. The session focused on the ‘Bachelor of Architecture’. Our mentor for career counseling was DR. HARISH TRIPATHI. The session started with a discussion of his career journey. He is PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT of the group Architect Harish Tripathi and Associates (Arhta) since 2000. His group is involved in designing various commercial institutional, hospitality, residential, and industrial projects in India and abroad. Dr. Tripathi is a visiting faculty of ‘Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics’, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi. He has received numerous awards. His work has been published in various Indian and International publications. After that, he discussed the scopes in this field. After graduation, one can plan to work with a private or public firm or can work independently. He shared many valuable tips that were useful to all the students. Later on, the session covered all the necessary details that are required to get admission into this course. Eligibility criteria to apply for B.Arch is that one should have studied PCM till 12th standard and 50% marks are also must in 12th. There are other different criteria for different institutes. NATA, JEE, and AAT are the most popular entrance exams of the B.Arch. The overall duration of this course is 5 years which includes training part also. There are many branches also in this field like landscape, urban planner, research, restoration architecture and there is more to this list. He told about some of the challenges that one faces in this profession. He shared about the people who have been his inspiration. The SUCCESS MANTRA which he gave is ‘Have a Holistic Approach for any situation that comes in your way which will lead you to reach your goal’.

DR. KALPANA SOLANKI

SESSION: 40

Phase 6 was completed on 22nd June 2020 with DR. KALPANA SOLANKI. She is a MEDICAL DIRECTOR of RENEW SKIN CLINIC in Paschim Vihar. She mentored the students willing to join the profession as a MEDICAL PRACTITIONER. She was the student of Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi from where she did her M.B.B.S. and Post- Graduation in Dermatology. She has also done Fellowship in Dermatology from Singapore, National Skin Centre. She has been practicing for the last 12 years. At present, she is practicing dermatology and aesthetics in Delhi. She shared her experiences with all the viewers. She chose this profession as she found that this is the only profession where you get receive respect from every person. One should have that perseverance for this field then only he/she should opt this. NEET is the All India Entrance exam tone has to give to get admission into M.B.B.S. For the preparation of the exam she gave few tips like studying daily is very must as the syllabus is vast and do solve the sample papers, prepare your time strategy for the exam. She named a few of the topmost colleges like AIIMS, Maulana Azad, Lady Hardinge, KGMS, Manipal. And there is a big difference between the fee structure of public and private colleges. Some countries are recognized under MCI like the Philippines, Bangladesh, China, Russia, Ukraine, Nepal. There are degrees and diplomas available in PG and the subjects offered are from the one studied in M.B.B.S. She discussed different subjects that are there in this field. The career opportunities that are available after PG is Obstetrics, Gynecologist, psychiatrists, dermatologist and there are more. Her session was very informative and interactive. One thing which keeps you motivated while studying is to see the ‘DR’ before your name. She shared her story of learning through mistakes. A beautiful SUCCESS MANTRA was shared by her, she says, ‘BE KIND AND GENEROUS. FOLLOW YOUR DREAM AND NEVER LOSE YOUR CONFIDENCE’.
