SESSION: 65

Mr. Sacheen Gandhi, Founder at Social Talk, Co-Founder -Medicine Baba

Our 65th session on 18 August 2020 was based on the “CAREER OPPORTUNITIES DURING COVID-19” and we all know that it is much needed in these times. MR. SACHEEN GANDHI was our guest speaker and Shashi Dream Foundation was privileged to have an interactive session with him. The speaker of this session was THE FOUNDER OF THE SOCIAL TALKS. He is also a CO-FOUNDER OF MEDICINE BABA. He is the Chief patron at Drug Disposal Awareness Program. He is a National and International Awardee. He has been working in the Health Sector since 2010.

The session started with a brief introduction of the speaker’s journey. He told us about his journey from his job to becoming an entrepreneur. Later, he talked about strategies that one should use for career opportunities during COVID-19. He talked about the power of technology and how everything is becoming digital: from shopping to everything. He gave his insights on the online portal launched by the government: Swadeshi Bazar. He gave his advice on how to increase the reach. He suggested to make an account on Linkedin and to increase the exposure and to make more connections.

He talked about the challenges that small or large businesses are facing at the time of lockdown. He talked about mental health issues that can arise due to unemployment in these times. He told us the advantages of digital payment and digital business. Later, he interacts with the viewers and answered their questions. Moreover, he also talked about his mistakes. “Experience is very important for doing business.” he quoted. He gave tips that one can use in virtual interviews. With the help of various examples, the session remained interactive and engaging.

When asked about SUCCESS MANTRA, he said, “Rejection played an important role in my journey. Whoever neglected and rejected me, are the only reason why I am here. Their negligence pushed me to do better. And, now when they see me on National TV Channels, they get surprised.”

SESSION: 66

Ms. Rajinder Pal Kaur, Retired Assistant Nursing Superintendent at PGIMER

Shashi Dream Foundation was privileged to have MS. RAJINDER PAL KAUR as the guest speaker for the 66th session, on 20 August 2020. The session was held online and many watched the session. Our session was on “CAREER AS A NURSE”. Ms. Rajinder Pal Kaur is a RETIRED ASSISTANT NURSING SUPERINTENDENT at PGIMER Chandigarh. She has done General Nursing and Midwifery from Frances Newton Mission Hospital from Firozpur, Punjab. She has 33 years of experience in PGIMER, Chandigarh.

She started the session with her journey and how she helped people and gained respect. She was proud of herself. Later, she talked about different types of nursing. Some Medical workers work for the community. They are aware of people about vaccination, antenatal, postnatal, and personal hygiene. Then, comes a General nurse who works in a hospital with patients. She talked about the different jobs that nurses are responsible for.

Later, she talked about the different skills that nurses should have in herself/themselves. Skills such as confidence, time management play an important role. She discussed different scopes after doing Masters, Diploma, and others. Many government jobs are available. One can take these jobs by giving entrance exams. She also talked about the opportunities that are available internationally. She also talked about her experiences that she faced in the emergency. It was an interactive session and she answered everyone’s questions patiently. When asked about the fear behind the jobs that nurses are doing during COVID-19, she said, “No one should be afraid of it. Even I have worked during Swine flu and I am completely fine.”

She talked about the differences between private and government hospitals. She also told the viewers about her memorable times and it was a delight to watch. She talked about the top universities that are in India where one can join. We learned how to serve the nation from Ms. Rajinder. One should have all these skills and will for becoming a nurse.

SESSION: 67

Mr. Vinam Gupta, Advocate on Record in the Supreme Court of India

On 23 August 2020, Shashi Dream Foundation was fortunate to have MR. VINAM GUPTA as a guest speaker for the 67th session of the career counseling session. He gave his insights on “CAREER IN LAW”. The counseling session was live-streamed on social media platforms and many viewers joined it. It was an interactive session and he told us about his journey, the challenges that he faced and also, answered the questions of the viewers.

MR. VINAM GUPTA is an ADVOCATE ON RECORD, IN THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA. He is a B.A. LL.B (Hons) from the University School of Law and Legal Studies, GGSIPU in Delhi. He is a Master of Business Law from NLSIU, Bangalore. He joined the Litigation team of Khaitan & Co. in August 2012 after graduating from GGSIPU. During his tenure at KCo, he was assigned commercial disputes ranging from International & Domestic Arbitration, Civil Suits, Economic offense, to Medical Negligence, and Related Advisory.

The session started with his career journey and how he worked at different firms. After the work experience of 6 years, he started working independently and founded his firm: The Guild. He also shared the skills that a trial advocate should have. He quoted, “The trust-building with your client is a two-way process. It will slowly come around. Be non-judgmental when you hear the client’s story.”

Later, he talked about the things that he likes as a lawyer. He quoted, “As a lawyer, one knows more about the law and order and I like the superiority of that knowledge.” He also told about the different fields that one can go after graduating such as disputes, arbitration, and all. He interacted with the viewers and answered their questions. “If your preparation is good, then you can deal with the pressure.” he quoted.

SUCCESS MANTRA for him is, “Nothing will happen overnight. In law, you need to take small steps and keep your head down. The process is slow but it is stable. Keep working hard as there is no other way.”

SESSION: 68

Mrs. Sushama Gahlot, Fashion Acamedician, and Consultant

MRS. SUSHSAMA GAHLOT was the guest speaker for our 68th session of the Career Counseling session, on 26 August 2020. Shashi Dream Foundation was fortunate to have her speak on “Career in Fashion Designing”. MRS. SUSHSAMA GAHLOT is a FASHION ACADEMICIAN AND, CONSULTANT. She has over 27 years of experience in the field of Fashion Academics, Design, and Education. She has been a proficient Faculty, Mentor, Counsellor, and a Facilitator while working at various Fashion Design Institutions like NIFT, PV Technique, SNDT University, NIFT Mumbai, and Program Manager at WLC College, New Delhi. She is committed to her profession and has a methodological approach to building work solutions with a solid work ethic.

As the session started she told everyone about her journey. She chased her interest in fashion after post-graduation and become what she wanted to be. She maintained the balance between family and career. “ Time Management is the thing that you need to learn so that you can balance your career and family”, she quoted. She talked about the challenges that one can face as a Fashion Designer. Also, she answered the questions of viewers. One can use the internet to update themselves regarding Fashion. There is a fashion cycle in our world. Celebrities introduce new fashion and after thirty to forty years, it repeats itself.

Later, she explained the whole career path more simply. One can do a diploma of three years and can study the subjects that are needed for Fashion Designing. Aspirants can do a job as a fashion designer, start a new boutique, and also work as an illustrator. She also told us the topmost education, Institutions offering a Fashion Designing course. One can check the websites of different colleges and can compare accordingly. Scholarships are also provided to the students who are unable to pay fees. She suggested going for online marketing in the COVID situation. She narrated short stories of her childhood that how those incidents pushed her towards achieving her goal to become a Fashion Designer.

SESSION: 69

Mrs. Sharmila Roy, Principal Scientist at the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research

Shashi Dream Foundation was fortunate to have MRS. SHARMILA ROY as a guest for the 69th session of our Career Counseling Session. The session was on “CAREER IN BIOSCIENCES”. It went live on 29 August 2020 on all social media platforms. It was an interactive session as she gave her insights and told her about her journey.

MRS. SHARMILA ROY is a Principal Scientist at the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SUGARCANE RESEARCH, Lucknow. She is an MSc Ph.D. in Zoology. She has over 29 years of research experience in agriculture entomology and soil biology in various research institutes, such as the Institute of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. She served at Indian Grassland and Fodder Institute, Central Arid Zone Institute of Subtropical Horticulture. She has also published over 100 research articles in national and international journals. She is a recipient of the Guman Devi award in the field of agricultural entomology.

She told everyone about her career journey from being a medical student and to her graduation, post-graduation, and then Ph.D. She was interested in wildlife and her inclination made her reach here. She had made the proper flow chart of the things and that made the whole live session easier and informative. Also, there are many post-graduate courses and one can choose according to their interest. She talked about each course briefly and we like to appreciate the whole session.

There are many career options in this field. Some are botanists, science journalists, patent attorneys, and many others. She described each career option and the viewers were in awe of this live session. There are government agencies, private companies, NGOs, which can offer you a good job. She also talked about the opportunities for studying abroad. She told all the important checkpoints that one should look at while choosing an institution abroad. It was a detailed live session about how you can have a career in BioSciences. She talked about the scope, pros, and cons of studying abroad.

Later, she interacted with the viewers. For her, the SUCCESS MANTRA is, “Try to face the hurdles which come in your way and always appreciate yourself once you solve it.”

SESSION: 70

Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Retired Border Security Officer

Shashi Dream Foundation was grateful to have RETIRED BORDER SECURITY OFFICER MR. BHANU PRATAP SINGH as a guest speaker for the 70th session of the Career Counseling session. It was held on 31st August 2020 on all the platforms. It was an interactive session as many viewers joined us and asked the speaker about their queries and listened to Officer’s journey.

MR. BHANU PRATAP SINGH started his career as a BSF and proceeded on voluntary retirement to serve for skill development of the younger generation. He has served in different important positions in BSF. He is the recipient of The President Office Medal for Meritorious services. He also served as recruitment officers in BSF. After VRS, he is associated with the skill development of youths as Director Marg Skills Private Limited, a venture of Marg ERP Ltd. He is having a vast experience of recruitment in CAPF, skill development, and career counseling of youth.

The session started and the officer told us about his journey. He belongs to a small village and after doing MSc in Chemistry, he got influenced by the relative who was serving the nation. And, from there, he never looked back. He has also served in the Indo-Pakistan border as well as the Indo-Bangladesh border. It was inspiring to listen to him. He also shared about the youngsters living in the Naxalite prone region. Lack of resources in the rural area moved him to do the work for society. His friend and he worked together for the mission of the skill development of youngsters.

Later, he talked about the skills that are needed for these officers. He also classified the officers in Group A, B, and other posts. He talked about eligibility that one requires. To crack the entrance exam, dedication is too important. One needs to read books and also needs to clear the psychological examination.

When asked about the SUCCESS MANTRA, he quoted, “ Motivation is the state of mind and one’s consciousness can motivate oneself the best.”
