PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN CHILD’S EDUCATION
Early education of a child begins in its house, among its family members, where parents play an essential role in developing interest, progress, and involvement of children in their education. All of us would have had our mom as our first-ever teacher in our initial days of learning. This is the most memorable part of life for both mom and child. We can say that in our entire pre-school learning process we would have had our moms guiding, helping, and molding us in various topics and skill development processes. This initial involvement and also future involvement of parents in their child’s education is very much crucial as it helps to enhance the classroom involvement of the child, the performance of the kids in their exams, development of overall self-esteem, confidence in particular topics taught in schools, figuring out their interests, strengths, and weaknesses in their academics, to go ahead with their interesting lines of subjects in future, etc.
The background of the parents moreover plays an important role as of how they involve in their child’s education, in case of parents hailing from below the poverty line or so, or in case of immigrants who have a huge problem with the communication in language with the schools and teachers could have an impact on child’s educational regards as there would be feeble involvement of parents in the child’s education. This would hinder the child’s overall development in its academics. In recent times most of the parents believe in digital platforms to communicate with the teachers of the school, which makes the entire engagement of the parents incomplete as there is no one-way conversation between the teachers and the parents. A lot of people have a time constrain as many of the parents are working and are not able to spare their time for their child’s academics is a pathetic one we hear normally these days. Even though the parents want to engage themselves in their child’s academics it becomes difficult at times to give their 100%. Hence there are tutors, guardians who help the child in its academics, but it could not succeed the parents’ role in it. Many of the surveys have been proved that there is a high percentage of attendance among students in schools, where there is keen parental involvement, also many of the parents about more than half of the percentage among the population believe that engaging in many of the school activities of the children helps in creating a supportive environment around the children in their growing ages.
The involvement of parents in parent-teacher meetings often, the involvement of them in all events conducted by schools which gives them an idea about the child’s academic performance is necessary to get to know their child. As well as it could give an idea to the teachers about the things they wouldn’t know about the student which helps the teachers to better focus on their students in all aspects. Parents-teachers interaction is a very beneficial thing that would give additional aid to the child’s overall scholarly development. The schools should engage in many such activities through which the parents and teachers interact, discuss with each other which would ultimately reap in one’s educational development. The schools should welcome the parents of all classes who are not especially comfortable in communication or any other aspects to interact with the curriculum and the prospectus of their institution, which in turn helps the child’s academic outcomes to be better. The parent-teachers involvement has got positive results in child’s classroom performance has been widely seen in many of the schools in recent times.
Also in the course of time where parents interact with the teachers. They get to know the challenges the teachers face in their profession, which in turn helps them to appreciate their work accordingly. The production of a positive and assertive environment in student’s education is far more necessary in case of the students who find themselves troublesome in coping up with few educational methods, it helps those kids to figure their difficulties and improvise on the whole. And those individuals with such a supportive atmosphere tend to achieve all the required educational goals set up by them and find themselves successful in every aspect of their academics and professional lives.
