How Indian Education is different from Foreign Education?
There is a vast difference between the Indian education system and the foreign education system. Human beings are social creatures, our society and environment influence us greatly and so is the case with education as well. Society will always influence the system of education.
Indian Education System
Indian system of education focuses more on marks, degrees and purely academic options. Vocational courses are not so much encouraged in India. However, with changing times and more awareness there has been a vast change in the Indian education system as well. The first and foremost level at which the Indian education system is divided is based on the levels of education. The levels of education in India range from the lower primary, upper primary, high and higher secondary. All these levels of education have children from different classes and age groups. The second level is the prevalence of mainly three streams in India that is commerce, science and humanities. These levels of India might just be specific to India but they are quite rigid here. In India, there is a three-set pattern of education i.e. 10+2+ 3 which means basic education till class 10th, then choosing a stream in class 12th and then pursuing graduation which is essentially a three-year course. In India, the universities or the colleges are also classified under three categories i.e. public which are entirely run by the government; one which is run partially by the government and partially by the private sector and private which are run entirely by the private sector. The public sector industries tend to enjoy both more reputation and honor.
Foreign Education System
The foreign system of education emphasizes more on creative learning and practical experience. It believes in the concept of hands-on- experience to fully grasp the meaning of a concept. As opposed to the Indian system of education, this focuses on education as a means to attain a final goal. The foreign system of education views learning as a continuous and lifelong process. This system of education focuses not so much on marks and rote learning. The focus on academics as well as vocational courses in well balanced under this system of education. The foreign system of education is very comprehensive and inclusive. There is quite a great deal of focus on sports as well and students are provided with the same impetus as they are provided for academic courses. The foreign system of education is extremely research-oriented and application-based. The foreign system of education is quite dynamic and it is continuously moving to be as suited as it can to be the then environment. The technical requirements of both these systems of education, as well as the relationship, shared between the teachers and students, are also quite different. The foreign system of education uses more technologically advanced methods and apparatus for teaching. In the Indian system of education, the students respect the teachers greatly and consider them next to their parents thus embodying the cultural values prevalent in India.
Conclusion
However, given all these points, it is important to keep in mind that no one system of education is better than the other one. Both these systems have been created, developed and adapted to the specific cultures and traditions. They both aim to serve the needs of the people best suited to the system and try to be as holistic in their approach and method as possible. Both these systems should continuously evolve to serve the dynamic needs and aspirations of the people.
