Introduction of the career
The field of media has seen tremendous growth with the changes in technology. Back in the day, the only newspaper was the source of getting news but this changed with the emergence of radio. This was followed by the introduction of television in the market. Television turned out to be a game-changer and attracted a lot of attention to the field of media. It widened the scope of media and introduced a lot of job opportunities in different sectors of media. The jobs were not limited to reporting or content writing but include jobs in public relations, photography, advertising, social media, web journalism, editing, corporate communication, etc.
There are various courses available for starting a career in media. These include diploma courses, certificate courses, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, etc. available with different specialization. Advertising is a specialized degree with courses available at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Introduction of the Speaker
The speaker Mr. Prajnan Bhattacharya has experience of nearly 30 years in the field of media & advertising. He has worked for different domains throughout his career which includes newspapers, T.V channels, and international news agencies. He currently runs an advertising agency called e-media solutions based in New Delhi. The firm works mainly with government and international agencies. He started his career with Pioneer, followed by national newspapers like The Economic Times, Sunday Observer, Lokmat Times, Dainik Jagran and many more. He also worked for Star News and Zee News. He achieved great heights in his career as he also headed Zee Business, Total TV, Pragya TV & Mahua TV. He owned Katayani TV and Dharma TV.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for opting for an undergraduate course from any college/university is 10 + 2 from a recognized board or equivalent. However, if one wants to go for a certificate course, some colleges ask for a minimum qualification of 10th from a recognized board. For admission to a post-graduate degree, the candidate should have graduated.
